What we collect
From the enquiry form: name, email, optional topic, and the message you type. If you telephone or email us, we keep the correspondence needed to answer you. If you become a student, we keep enrolment details, invoice references, critique artefacts you submit, and attendance notes. We do not ask for payment card numbers on this site.
If you accept optional analytics cookies, we may see approximate page counts. If you reject them, the site still works. See Cookies.
Why we use it
We reply to enquiries, assess whether a room is the right pressure, deliver teaching, issue invoices, meet bookkeeping duties, and — if you join the alumni letter — send the monthly note. The legal bases are steps toward a contract, our legitimate interest in running a small studio, and legal obligation for tax records. Consent is the basis for optional analytics cookies and for the alumni letter if you opt in separately.
Retention
Unsuccessful enquiries are kept for 18 months so we do not contradict an earlier “the room is wrong for you”, then deleted or reduced to a non-identifying note. Accepted student files are kept for six years after the last invoice, which matches ordinary UK accounting practice. Alumni letter addresses are kept until you ask to leave. Cookie consent is stored in your browser under a brand-prefixed key; we do not copy that flag to a server from this static site.
Who sees it
Instructors named on a room, and a bookkeeper if an invoice exists. We do not sell lists. Hosting and email providers may process data as processors under written terms. If a guest reader joins a critique, we share only what that session requires, and we tell you first.
International transfers
Our primary records sit in the United Kingdom. Some email or hosting processors may store copies in the European Economic Area or, less often, in other countries. Where a transfer lacks an adequacy decision, we rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard, and we will tell you which if you ask. We do not send student catalogues to public generative-model services for critique.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection to legitimate-interest processing, and portability of data you provided. You may withdraw consent where consent was the basis, without affecting prior lawful use. You may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We would rather fix the issue directly first; write to the address above.
We will need enough information to identify you. We will not invent a portal. A letter or email is the process.
Children
Studio programmes are aimed at working adults. We do not knowingly enrol anyone under 18.
